In the past years, I have become a sceptic strongly doubting the existance of a super natural reality. This means that I no longer subscribe the contents of this page.

Knowing God

He who comes to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Hebr 11:6

Without doubt, the mightiest thought the mind can entertain is the thought of God,
and the weightiest word in any language is its word for God.

The Knowledge of the Holy, p 12, Tozer.

Whatever can be known about God, is clear,
since He Himself made it so.

Since the creation of the world,
the invisible realities, God's eternal power and divinity
have become visible,
recognized through the things He has made.

The name of God,
which is spoken by every creature,
and by all people,
even before they believed in Christ,
could not have been unknown in every way.

Such is the energy of the divinity,
that it cannot be utterly and entirely hidden
from any rational creature,
which makes use of it's reason.

So because God made this world,
that is visible in the sky and on earth,
He was known to all nations,
in this regard at least,
even before they were imbute by the faith of Christ.

"Hymn To The Praises of God".
From the album `Quiet reflections' by John Michael Talbot
(Based on Rom 1:18-20, and Psalm 19:1-6)

Seek God!

Seek His face continually. Ps 105:4b, 27:8
Seek the LORD that you may live. Amos 5:6
So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. Hosea 6:3a
That they should seek God. Acts 17:27
But grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18a

The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and man's spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God.

The limits of knowing

There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God.
Ps 14:2, 53:2
For we know in part. 1 Cor 13:9a
If anyone supposes that he knows anything,
he has not yet known as he ought to know.
1 Cor 8:2
Even though man should seek laboriously, He will not discover; and though the wise man should say, `I know,' he cannot discover. Eccl 8:17b

The evidence of God's existence

That which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what was been made, so that they are without excuse. Rom 1:19
The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the works of His hands. Psalm 19:1

The impossibility to know God completely

Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty? They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know? Job 11:7
The world through its wisdom did not come to know God 1 Cor 1:21
The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Cor 1:25
Rom 11:33-36. Ps 92:6b

God can be known

And you will seek Me and find me, when you search for me with all your hearts Jer 29:13

My son, if you will receive my sayings,
And treasure my commandments within you,
Make you ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as hidden treasure;
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord,
And discover the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
Prov 2:1-6

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding in order that we might know Him who is true. 1 John 5:20a

For God, who said, `Light shall shine out of darkness', is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ 2 Cor 4:6

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jer 33:3 NIV

He shows Himself not to reason, but to faith and love. Faith is an organ of knowledge, and love is an organ of experience. To know God is not through reason, nor is it through emotions, but by faith and love. The Knowledge of the Holy, p 21, Tozer.

Be still, and know that I am God.     Ps 46:10

God can be known intimately

For you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" Rom 8:15b.
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Gal 4:6.

But one way to know God: Jesus Christ

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." John 14:6.
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time. 1 Tim 2:5,6.
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given amongh men, by which we must be salved. Acts 4:12.
